Roos Galjaard (1973) started singing and playing the guitar at an early age, and began performing her own songs when she was sixteen, first in the Netherlands, later on in Southern Africa. In addition to her solo work she started the band Gather Roses in 1995, while she was studying geography in Groningen, the Netherlands. Roos writes atmospheric, powerful songs each performed with passion and commitment. Together with Freek Laban (drums), Wiro Jacobs (bass and backing vocals) and Job Wiegant (accordeon, keyboard and guitar) influences from folk, jazz, pop and world music are merged into pure music whereby times other than quadruple is not avoided.
De latest cd "together", released in 2001, is still being very much appreciated. Roos plans to bring out a new album with recorded but unreleased songs from the last couple of years and at the present time Gather Roses is recording new material. The release is planned for summer 2010.
